Description

Ebb tide waves refracting around a small area of shingle deposit near Whitstable Harbour, Kent.  Such beach deposits are common along this stretch of the North Kent Coast, where tidal currents, outflow from nearby rivers (e.g. Swale) and short fetch waves interact.  About 500m to the east there is a major depositional feature called 'The Street', a 750m long shingle bank which is visible at low tide.  The shingle in this video clip is a microcosm of The Street, providing clues about its formation.
