Eyjafjallajokull and the impact of Icelandic eruptions

Description

A flash case study looking at the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajokull, from geography researcher Dr Richard Waller in the field in Iceland. The eruption produced 0.3 cubic kilometres of ash, which resulted in the disruption of 95,000 flights across Europe and economic losses of 5 billion euros. This clip encourages students to think about larger historical Icelandic eruptions and their potential impacts if they were to occur again in the future.
